Your point of view.

How is it that usually when arguing with people instead of talking about facts it turns into talking what is they'rs point of view? Example when talking with somebody they start telling how they saw or heard something and think it as fact that proves they are right. When in reality they only see small fraction what really is happening. It's like id say i saw black man robbing someone, i would think all black men were robbers. Just because something happened to you doesn't make it a fact nor does it make it true. In most cases people just saw fraction what really happens and then stereotype them around to certain group of people or things.

theres so much information in the world, and each day brings better access to more and more information. our brains didnt evolve to handle so much pointless information: we were more concerned with having sex and not being eaten.

Trying to act objectively and with sufficient information to back up an argument can be difficult. Especially if the person you are arguing with a vetted interest in the opposing side.

I think its got something to do with their pride...

I just wish less arguments degenerated into ad hominem arguments

Arguing is fun sometimes. I agree though, facts are important.

That is YOUR point of view :P

but you elaborated it nicely

It can be hard to be objective when you feel strongly about something

Its just people trying to justify their actions/thoughts. People that lump their experiences to a general population are morons anyways.

I've always hated getting into debates with my friends about stuff like this :(

People always generalize too much. Well I do it myself too. :/

Because people dont really care about every single thing they have a somekinda opinion on, on those that they care they most likely research about the issue, but if someone just suddenly asks about somehting that you dont really care about all you have is your point of view. And I think this is good, I would find it very silly, if people would stop the conversation merely because they haven't looked in to the matter enough. Or that you need to have a Masters degree on something before you can open your mouth about it.

Well, that's human nature for you; generalizations, biases and using opinions as fact.
